@lordtom1: Tom Jones performs "Cry to Me" on The Voice UK, turning a break between Blind Auditions into one of his most memorable performances on the show. Song: "Cry to Me" Performed by: Tom Jones Original artist: Solomon Burke Written by: Bert Berns Show: The Voice UK - Blind Auditions 17 January 9, 2021 Original release: 1962 During a break between auditions, the virtual audience encouraged Tom Jones to sing. He stayed in his coach's chair as The Voice band joined in and began performing Solomon Burke's soul classic "Cry to Me." Jones was 80 years old at the time. "Cry to Me" was written and produced by Bert Berns and originally recorded by Solomon Burke in late 1961 before being released in 1962. The recording became one of Burke's early signature songs, reaching No. 5 on Billboard's R&B chart. A new generation would later discover the song through Dirty Dancing, where Burke's original recording accompanies the famous scene between Baby and Johnny in Johnny's room. Almost six decades after the original recording, Tom Jones brought the song back to television with little more than his voice and The Voice house band - without even leaving his chair.#TomJones #TheVoiceUK
