Honoring Chief Inspector Ramatoulie Gaye On 16 September 2026, I traveled to The Gambia to cover the Gambia vs. Somalia U-17 World Cup qualifying tournament in Senegal. Upon my arrival at Banjul International Airport, I was informed that I needed to pay an arrival fee of 1,000 dalasis. At that moment, Chief Inspector Ramatoulie Gaye of the Gambia Immigration Department made a gesture that I will never forget. Out of kindness and recognition for the work we do in promoting Gambian sports on social media, she personally offered me 1,000 dalasis so that I could complete the process and continue my journey. After arriving home, I wanted to pay her back immediately. Unfortunately, I could not find the contact details she had provided. I searched for her without success. When I later returned, I decided to share a video on social media in an effort to locate her and return the money. What touched me most was not the amount of money. It was the gesture itself. As a public servant and Chief Inspector working at one of the country’s busiest entry points, she meets countless travelers every day. Yet she demonstrated humility, kindness, professionalism, and a genuine willingness to help. As I continued asking about her, I heard the same thing from many people: Ramatoulie Gaye is known for being humble, respectful, and helpful to everyone she encounters. These are the kinds of people we should proudly celebrate in our public institutions. For that reason, we have launched this fundraising initiative in recognition of the outstanding service that Ramatoulie Gaye continues to provide to the people of The Gambia. We are inviting Gambians at home and abroad, as well as friends of The Gambia, to support this initiative in any way they can, whether through cash contributions or other forms of assistance. We also respectfully call upon the leadership of the Gambia Immigration Department to recognize and appreciate the exemplary service she has demonstrated. Public servants who consistently go above and beyond deserve recognition and encouragement. A special thank you to Chief Inspector Ramatoulie Gaye for reminding us that kindness, integrity, and service still matter. We also extend our appreciation to the entire Gambia Immigration Department and to all civil servants who work tirelessly every day to serve our nation. Thank you, Ramatoulie Gaye. The Gambia appreciates you. 🇬🇲 ⸻ Wave Contact: 83-3749792 Pabi Touray - @mostarsport
