@prairieperspective: “Buy Canadian.” “Build Canada Strong.” “Masters of our own home.” 🇨🇦 Then one of Canada’s biggest new nation-building projects turns to China for major steel components. If Canada wants economic sovereignty, shouldn’t we be asking why we can’t build this stuff here? 👀 #cdnpoli #MarkCarney #LNG #oilandgas #china
You realize that the majority of Canadians understand the specific need for Chinese steel for part of this project?

Yes they are using Chinese steel...what you failed to mention is China is one of the few countries that can produce the modules of this scale Canada doesn't have the capacity...

@Yuno_ffxiv :
Canada supplies the raw natural gas, civil construction, and pipeline steel, but relies on global specialized yards for the complex, ocean delivered process plant modules.
it does use canadian steel except for the specialized components.

how many Canadian companies build ferries
Canada has major shipyards capacity of heavy shipbuilding, but currently zero domestic shipyards are actively building large passenger ferries.

• Specialized needs: LNG Canada requires massive, complex processing modules.
• No local yards: Canadian facilities cannot build or deliver these large units.

you forgot to mention that the steel is built by Specialized Fabrication Co., with capabilities for large-scale LNG modules that are unavailable in Canada.
