Origin of Worshiping Xuanyuan on the 3rd Day of the 3rd Lunar Month   The tradition “On the 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month, worship Xuanyuan” dates back to the Spring and Autumn Period (770–476 BCE)  and has continued for over 2,500 years .   - Legend holds this day is Xuanyuan’s birthday: “Dragons raise their heads on the 2nd day of the 2nd lunar month; Xuanyuan is born on the 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month.” - It coincides with the Shangsi Festival, a spring day for purification, blessing, and honoring ancestors. - Initially a folk custom, it became an official imperial ceremony in the Tang Dynasty. Today, it unites Chinese worldwide to honor their common ancestor .   3. Brief Introduction to the Yellow Emperor (Xuanyuan)   Xuanyuan Huangdi (the Yellow Emperor)  (c. 2697–2599 BCE)  is revered as the Primordial Ancestor of Chinese Civilization  and common ancestor of all Chinese people .   - Born Gongsun Xuanyuan , later surnamed Ji ; named Xuanyuan after residing at Xuanyuan Hill ; titled Yellow Emperor for auspices of “earth virtue” . - Key achievements :- Unified ancient Chinese tribes  - Invented farming, medicine, characters, clothing, boats, carriages, and the compass  - Established laws, calendars, music, and early state systems  - Fathered 25 sons; 14 received surnames. His wife Leizu taught sericulture and silk weaving .   4.
