Had my wedding in my home country so had to book everything about a year in advance - my “best friend” said ‘I can’t believe you didn’t choose a wedding date that would work with my schedule” 🙃

my best friend of 14 years didn’t make me a bridesmaid because we don’t live in the same city anymore, but made some random girl she met 2 months prior that she said herself she wasn’t close to a bridesmaid. then she wanted me to fly to her city on 6 different occasions aside from her wedding, making 7 trips total not even including her bachelorette. respectfully some brides don’t consider their friends either. i rsvp’d no and now we’re not friends.

The amount of people telling me they were “too tired” for something (like my REHEARSAL, or little things I planned to spend time with out of town guests, etc), followed by asking me to arrange things for their convenience completely stunned me. Do you realize you’re talking to the bride?? I AM THE TIRED ONE!!

Yeah I had the conversation about how a wedding was getting too expensive with a bride, I bowed out as a bridesmaid and RSVP-ed “no”. It wasn’t fun for anyone but if you can’t be honest and kind with the bride, are you really close enough to be a bridesmaid?
