@texas.on.read: This is why representation matters. James Talarico was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes after a 25-mile walk through Texas heat put him in the ER with a blood sugar level of 900. Then he learned that a 30-day supply of insulin could cost $684—even with insurance—because apparently staying alive is treated like a premium subscription in America. After getting elected, he worked with Texans living with diabetes and Republican colleagues to help pass Texas’ $25 monthly cap on out-of-pocket insulin costs for covered people. That is what public service is supposed to look like: take a real problem people are facing, work across the aisle, and make it easier for families to stay healthy and alive. Texas voting dates: Register by October 5, 2026. Early voting is October 19–30. The deadline for eligible voter’s mail-ballot application to be received is October 23. Election Day is November 3, 2026. @James Talarico @Jubilee #healthcare #texaspolitics #type1diabetes #texasnews #election2026

Any medication that someone literally needs to stay alive - like insulin - should be free. Period.

remember the Creator of insulin wanted to leave the patent open to the public so it would never be more then the average person could afford it

what should really piss you off is that the patent was free. the people who invented insulin, gave away the patent for free and the insurance companies didn't have to pay for the research at all yet they are charging you a fortune and it's just for profit

Ok insulin is affordable now how about the devices that make it easier to administer and manage the condition (insulin pumps, Cgms) it’s like pulling teeth trying to get my supplies from byram 🫠

this shows that its not the cost of the medicine. its the greed of the pharmaceutical companies. same thing where epi pens are a 5000% markup over cost
