Loving fishing is a slow, patient joy that settles into the bones. Mornings begin with the soft hiss of water against the boat and the cold promise of dawn; my hands know the weight of rod and reel as if they were extensions of myself. Each cast is a small gamble — a careful release, a suspended hope — and when the line sings taut, the world narrows to the tug at the end and the steady, breathing battle. Catching a fish is both triumph and hush: a flash of silver, a sudden, writhing life held gently between fingers, respect traded for marvel. I learn the rivers and the moods of fish, the currents and the hidden shelves where they wait. Then comes the simple ritual of threading the catch onto a string, a way to honor the work of the day and carry the story home. The string clinks softly as we move, a quiet tally of successful risks and patient hours. More than harvest, fishing is communion — with water, with seasons, with friends who share the light. The string carries not just fish, but memory. It binds the day together and keeps me coming back again always.
