@maia_shops: Movies often portray samurai as enormous, intimidating warriors towering over everyone around them. But the reality was different—and somehow eerier. Many Japanese men during the samurai era were considerably shorter than modern adults, with estimates from historical skeletal remains often placing average male height around 5’2”–5’5” (157–165 cm) depending on the period and population. Yet their smaller stature didn’t make them less dangerous. Samurai trained for combat with weapons such as the katana, yari spear, and yumi bow, sometimes wearing elaborate armor designed to protect them while still allowing movement. Imagine standing on a dark battlefield centuries ago… Hearing hundreds of armored footsteps approaching through the fog. Then seeing rows of warriors emerge—helmets decorated with horns and crests, faces partially hidden behind intimidating masks, swords at their sides. They didn’t need to be giants. Their appearance was designed to make them feel like monsters anyway. #fyp
