@elviaq91: 🌋around 225 shallow earthquakes have been recorded across Kīlauea’s summit region over the past week, based on seven daily updates covering roughly September 25-October 2! Most have been small, but the latest update includes a magnitude 3.5 earthquake this morning. The biggest increase occurred Wednesday night into Thursday as magma pushed into cracks beneath the summit near Halemaʻumaʻu crater. Thursday’s report counted 98 earthquakes during the preceding 24 hours, followed by 59 in Friday’s update. The unrest prompted a temporary closure of the Keanakākoʻi area of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, including nearby overlooks and trails. As of this morning, the intrusion had not resumed, and an overflight found no new ground cracking or lava erupting in a new location. However, earthquakes and modest summit inflation continued. Another lava-fountaining episode remains possible, or activity could shift to another location within the summit caldera. The timing remains uncertain. Kīlauea remains at WATCH-ORANGE, with no unusual activity reported along its East or Southwest Rift Zones. Visitors should follow park closures and check conditions before heading out🌋
