My grandpa was a tunnel rat in Vietnam, he had a trunk under his bed with memorabilia and pictures and he told me and my cousins to never open that trunk, we did. Big mistake. Then I joined in 07, Now I have a do not open trunk. Comes full circle

My grandpa was in nam, helicopter gunner, never heard him speak of the war. Didn’t know he was in the military until I was a freshman in high school and we had a Veterans Day lunch at school and I got called down to the cafeteria to have lunch with him

That line is the truest statement I’ve ever heard. My great grandpa served in nam, only ever talked about it with my great grandma once twenty years ago. One of the most gut wrenching stories I’ve ever heard.

My uncle was in nam and he told me stories I would never repeat to my kids. He told me he got left in enemy territory by his comrades he had to lay flat on his back for 10 hours enduring weather conditions and the Vietnamese stomping on his hands, arms, and stomach, he didn’t flinch one hair after a couple hours he sprinted through the dense forest and he reached a check point where he finally got picked up after 10 hours of pain by a.support helicopter. He has only told me and five other people
