@yuliaxgon: Los Angeles car culture goes back more than a century. By the 1920s, LA County was producing around a quarter of the world’s petroleum, and by 1925 there was roughly one car for every three residents in Los Angeles, twice the national average. Then came the Arroyo Seco Parkway, hot rods racing across Southern California dry lakes, lowriders with hydraulic suspension, cruising, and generations of people customizing their cars. By the 1980s and 1990s, Mexican American and Asian American drivers were helping build Southern California’s Japanese import scene, which eventually inspired the world of The Fast and the Furious. The movie came out in 2001, but LA had already spent decades building the racing, customization, cruising, and car-club culture that made the story possible. #losangeles #la #california #carsoftiktok

Actually Houston is deemed the racing capital of the United States, not Los Angeles. Look it up.

LA wasn’t built around the car. It was built around river/water corridors that later became transportation corridors have always existed throughout LA’s history from the very beginning starting off as a wagon trails, moving onto the railroads, then onto the street cars, and then onto the automobile which resulted in beautiful paved roads, and then eventually the creation of a parks plan which then led to a freeway master plan which then led to the car culture Los Angeles has today.

LA destroyed itself by ripping up its street car tracks and bulldozing poor neighborhoods of color to put in toxin spewing highways. LA would be in the running for greatest city on earth if it hadn't done that.

FANFIC EDIT He became her second love… He wasn’t a prince or a nobleman, but he had a kind heart, filled with love and tenderness only for her. Karn was a witcher and, to some extent, a bandit, but when he saw the very young Queen Daenerys Targaryen, he found what he had been searching for so long — a home, a purpose, a quiet light amidst the eternal darkness that had dogged his steps. They spent only a month together, but they grew so close it felt as if they had lived side by side for a lifetime. Gradually, their friendship turned into something more — a rare, almost impossible bond where words became unnecessary, and silence was the most honest conversation. With him, she felt safe and at home — for the first time in years filled with fear, loneliness, and the heavy burden of the throne. Next to Karn, even the dragon’s shadow seemed less menacing, and the cold walls of foreign palaces felt a little less alien. He died giving his life for her, thinking he meant nothing to her. In his final moments, as the blade found its mark, his only thought was: “Let her live. Let her forget me, as long as she lives.” But Daenerys didn’t forget. Not for a single moment. After his death, when the young woman left Essos, she brought all his belongings to King’s Landing — a worn grimoire with notes in the margins, an old dagger with a leather‑wrapped hilt, a pouch of herbs he had gathered at dawn, and that very kaftan, embroidered with golden threads, crafted in a beautiful Eastern style. Every item held a piece of him — of his rough‑hewn yet sincere soul, one that knew how to see beauty where others saw only danger. She ordered the kaftan to be altered and made into a dress. The seamstresses exchanged glances, wondering why the queen would want such an unusual garment, but Daenerys only shook her head: “Don’t ask. Just do it.” And when the dress was ready, she wore it on the day she ascended the Iron Throne for the first time after a long silence — as a reminder that strength isn’t only found in fire and steel, but also in the quiet, selfless heart that once warmed her amid the icy wind of fate. Rumors spread that she died in it — in that dress, which held the scent of distant lands, herbs, and something indescribably dear. They said that in her final moments, as darkness closed in, she smiled faintly, as if she saw Karn again — standing at the threshold, with a slight grin and a gaze that held no reproach, no regret, only endless devotion. And in that smile was everything: a farewell, a thank you, and a quiet, stubborn belief that somewhere beyond the veil, their story still went on. #houseofthedragon #asoiaf #gameofthronesedit #aknightofthesevenkingdoms #fanfic
