@drnataliejonespsyd: Replying to @cheskahunfiltered I do think therapists should be in therapy. I believe that they should also consult and have mentorship. #drnataliejonespsydlpcc #therapists #therapy #MentalHealth #consultation
My long term therapist urged me to give my phone number to a friend of my past assaulter (assault happened 10 yrs ago), overriding my gut instinct to stay safe... for context..i told my therapist he is attractive but im scared its a set up so i told him maybe next time.. When I did give him my number like she suggested saying your don’t know if hes a threat just see what happens… it caused distress & hypervigilance , when i brought up how it affected me and how my close friend didn’t like her advice..she deflected accountability and said it was my choice to take her advice.. & btw after a few days of chitchatting with this guy and it causing me distress I said this is not for me. Take care & blocked him … I decided to switch Gyms so I wouldn’t have to see him anymore . I was doing job training at a drug store with the department of rehabilitation… with my job coach next to me I heard someone say hi and I calmly turned around and I locked eyes with him and had a flashback. My body jumped. I started shaking. my vision became blurred. I started hyperventilating and I had to calm myself down with a few deep breaths…I said hi and he looked at me then looked at my job coach & walked away… I now realize that these are things that I have dealt with when it comes to this therapist : unmanaged countertransference . enmeshment .therapeutic gaslighting defensive reframing, practicing outside scope of practice. secondary traumatization unsafe exposure. breach of duty of care. improper execution of interventions .defensive pathologizing.. I just can’t believe I was in therapy with her for so long. I brought in so many issues and traumas and very personal things that have happened over the years and I don’t feel safe with her anymore at all. I could go on about other things. I feel very mixed up from this and I’m disappointed! all the time that I’ve spent in therapy with her.. And going forward I feel reluctant and discouraged with finding a new therapist

I'm glad that you have a support system. The line of work that you do can weigh heavily on you. 🫶

My ex is a LICSW and wasn't required therapy while in grad school. I wish it was a requirement for all MH grad students

I absolutely agree. I’ve been in therapy most of my career. I also have a life coach and plenty of professionals to consult with.
