25k special Rome edit 🔥🔥 #rome #romulus #remus #historyedit #fy Rome began as a small settlement in Italy and eventually became one of the largest empires in history. According to legend, Rome was founded in 753 BC by Romulus, who killed his brother Remus after they argued over who should rule the new city. At first, Rome was a kingdom ruled by kings. In 509 BC, the Romans overthrew their last king and created the Roman Republic. During the Republic, Rome became stronger by conquering most of Italy and then fighting powerful enemies such as Carthage. Rome eventually became involved in civil wars. Julius Caesar became extremely powerful, but he was assassinated in 44 BC. After more civil wars, Augustus became the first Roman emperor in 27 BC, beginning the Roman Empire. The Empire expanded across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. At its height, Rome controlled a huge territory around the Mediterranean. Roman roads, armies, cities, laws and culture spread throughout the empire. Later, Rome faced invasions, economic problems and political instability. The empire was divided into Eastern and Western parts. The Western Roman Empire fell in 476 AD, while the Eastern Roman Empire continued for almost another thousand years. So, in simple terms: Small settlement → Kingdom → Republic → Massive Empire → Division → Fall of Western Rome. - @averoix1
