The Towers of Silence, also known as Dakhma, are ancient circular stone structures used in Zoroastrian funeral rituals, one of the world’s oldest religions founded in Persia over 3,000 years ago. Zoroastrians believe a dead body becomes impure and can contaminate sacred elements like earth, fire, and water, so burial and cremation were forbidden. Instead, they built these towers, where the dead were carried to the top and left in the open air. There, under the scorching sun, rain, and wind, their bodies would naturally decompose, while vultures stripped the flesh from the bones. Once clean, the bones were collected into a central pit inside the tower where they eventually disintegrated into dust. This process was considered the purest way to return the body to nature without polluting the world. These towers were found mostly in Iran and India, especially in Mumbai where some are still in use, although the lack of vultures has made the ritual harder to maintain today. Outsiders often found the practice disturbing, but for Zoroastrians it is a sacred tradition that honors purity and the cycle of life and death. #FYP #creepy #fypシ #viralvideo #itsmaritejeda
