The TikTok has the text:
“Wipe down the machine after the rush”
At a McDonald’s, this is a completely normal instruction. The employee is supposed to wait until the rush—the busy period when lots of customers are ordering—is over, and then wipe down/clean one of the machines.
But the joke changes the meaning of the sentence.
1. “The machine” normally means the equipment
If your manager says:
“Wipe down the machine after the rush.”
You would understand:
“Once we’re done being busy, clean the McDonald’s machine.”
So there is no joke in the sentence by itself.
2. She decides that she is the machine 😭
The woman in the video basically says, through her actions:
“What if I am the machine?”
Instead of wiping down the actual restaurant equipment, she wipes herself down.
That’s where the absurdity comes from.
She’s pretending that “the machine” is referring to her, rather than the actual McDonald’s machine.
3. She’s following the instruction… technically 💀
That’s what makes it funny.
The boss said:
“Wipe down the machine.”
Her interpretation:
Machine = me.
Therefore:
Wipe down the machine = wipe myself down.
So in the joke’s logic, she’s not disobeying her manager at all. She’s claiming that she’s literally the machine that needs to be cleaned.
4. The phrase is being intentionally taken out of context
The humor comes from misinterpreting an ordinary workplace instruction.
Normally:
Machine → McDonald’s equipment
In the TikTok:
Machine → the woman herself
That completely changes what the instruction means.
5. Why the “after the rush” part matters
“The rush” is McDonald’s slang for the period when the restaurant gets extremely busy.
So the original situation is:
Customers come in → employees deal with the rush → rush ends → employee cleans the machine.
The TikTok turns it into:
Customers come in → rush ends → “machine” (the woman) gets wiped down. 😭
So the joke isn’t really about cleaning itself. It’s about her pretending to be the machine and therefore treating the manager’s instruction as if it applies to her body.
The entire joke in one sentence:
Her manager means “clean the McDonald’s equipment after we’re done being busy,” bu
