@bingeontravel: If you are looking for a villa stay with ocean views in New Zealand, Bluestone Farmhouse in Matakana is one I would happily recommend. You wake up high above the Tāwharanui Peninsula, looking across the Hauraki Gulf to Kawau Island, with a coffee from the very impressive espresso machine and the sunrise coming up over the water. Inside, it is a classic New Zealand farmhouse beautifully reimagined. The living spaces open straight onto the decks, the bedrooms look out to the water, and there is room for everyone to be together or find a quiet spot of their own. Afternoons are for the infinity pool, the spa pool, or a book on the terrace with that view in front of you. When you want to get out and explore, Buckleton Beach is a short walk away, Omaha Beach is ten minutes, and Tāwharanui Regional Park has one of the most beautiful beaches in the country. You can snorkel at Goat Island, enjoy a long lunch at one of the Matakana vineyards, or wander the Saturday farmers' market in Matakana Village. My favourite part is the Cookhouse. Glass on three sides, a wood-fired oven, a long recycled oak table, and a private chef if you are celebrating something special. It sleeps up to ten, so it is a fabulous choice for families or a group of friends wanting a long weekend together.
