100000% NOT overreacting!!! If anything, needs to say it how it is more!!! This is how we BREAK generational trauma!!! We can't expect thing's to ever get better if we continue the toxic paths of those previous!! MIL needs to zip it and be helpful or not be surprised when they go no contact!!!

How can they have the same mentality?? My MILs mentality was “once you’re old enough to take care of yourself you’re on your own” my husband did not take on that mentality because he dislikes his mom and has since he turned 14.

I'm a single mom and remember when my son was a couple months old, I was burned out from not sleeping... had family tell me something similar, "you wanted a baby, there you have it!" being a single mom was not by choice. I don't regret it at all but still, comments like that really hurt and annoy you. You did the right thing by telling her off, your family, your house, your rules. Things will work out. And yes, mental health is VERY important
