✝️❤️ The United Cajun Navy’s heart breaks today as we learn about and mourn the tragic loss of Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras and the eight other souls lost aboard flight N722BD in Greenacres, Florida. ❤️✝️ Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras was just 20 years old. Her mother and stepfather confirmed to the New York Post that she was acting as co-pilot aboard the Learjet 60 that tragically crashed in Greenacres, Florida, on Sunday, claiming the lives of all nine people on board. While official confirmation is still pending, it is believed that the other pilot on board was her fiancé, Jack, with whom she frequently flew. She did a very professional job on the comms as long as she could under very difficult circumstances. Nathalia's passion for aviation started early. As a 17-year-old senior at West Boca Raton High School, she earned her private pilot’s license through the Palm Beach County School District’s Aviation Academy—achieving her wings even before she got her driver’s license. She loved to joke with friends who teased her about not being able to drive, playfully reminding them that she could fly instead. Her drive never wavered. By age 18, she became a commercial pilot; by 19, a certified flight instructor; and by 20, she was piloting jets, fully living out the exact dream she had envisioned as a teenager. In the harrowing air traffic control recordings during their flight from Austin to the Bahamas, it was Nathalia’s voice reporting icing conditions and severe turbulence. After requesting a higher altitude, she declared an emergency as the jet entered an unrecoverable dive. Air traffic control-maintained contact until the very end, while the background audio captured a voice reciting the Lord’s Prayer. Through it all, Nathalia remained on the radio, relentlessly working the problem and performing her duty until the final second. Eight other souls were lost in this tragic accident. As their identities are confirmed, our thoughts remain with their grieving families alongside Nathalia’s. The United Cajun Navy stands in full solidarity in prayer for Nathalia’s family and all the grieving families affected by this devastating tragedy. Our organization sends our deepest sympathies, support, and continuous prayers to everyone touched by this loss as they navigate the difficult days ahead. The NTSB is actively conducting its investigation, and the official cause of the crash remains under review. Nathalia spent her life reaching for the skies—may she fly high and rest in peace. Please continue to hold all of these families in your prayers as more details unfold.
