my son at 13 was way over weight and much taller than his classmates and got made fun of for it and bullied. One summer he decided to change and exercised and watched what he ate and lost over 60lbs, he also had a growth spurt so when school started back no one even recognized him. If he saw bullying, he stepped in and he was always the 1st to befriend the new kid or the one by himself and would introduce the ones alone to each other. He died in a car wreck at 16 and his funeral was standing room only. So many kids talked about what he did for them and he changed thier lives by simply being their friend when no one else even noticed them...I never knew this until he was gone but it made my heart so proud of him 💙 Thank you for doing what you did. God put you in their path to be a great blessing.

My son could have used a friend like you. He spent his whole freshman year of high school avoiding the lunch room sitting by himself in the library. At the end of the school year he expressed to me not wanting to go back the following year, to please homeschool him. He said there was another student that was antagonizing him, and was isolating him by not allowing other students to interact with him by calling him names or pushing him. He expressed that it caused him to have anxiety and he will cry himself to sleep at night. The sad part is my son is autistic, but be high functioning, very self-sufficient, you wouldn’t know he is on the spectrum because he tries to mask any sensory that would be noticeable. He is an amazing human being thats so caring, smart, funny, a good time but wasn’t given a chance to create real meaningful friendships. This year he is currently in tenth grade homeschooling. he’s a lot happier being able to homeschool but my fear is he is missing out and he would remain isolated and lonely. He doesn’t have any friends and it breaks my heart. He tells me all the time don’t worry mom when I get older I’ll find my people. Thank God for his older siblings they try their best to hangout and include him or take him out. But they are seven and fourteen years older than him. If the world was a little more kinder 🙏

When I was in elementary school I would get bullied because my mother always sent my brothers and myself to school dirty and with dirty clothes on. If those kids would have been nicer to me maybe they would have understood how bad my life was. Luckily my 4th grade teacher Miss Decker would buy me clothes and let me wash up in the bathroom.

You were a rare and mature 13 year old boy. My middle school students are too afraid of being judged themselves or being laughed at. I know some of them would want to do this, but I don’t know how many would have the courage to go against their friends.

I could have used your gift as a child. I'm much older and instead of heading into a deeper place,I practice random acts of kindness myself. You are so on point ,I feel "full" fulfill amd happy. i wish I could do it as a job.Seven days a week never would get tired. Do you continue on the path that your on because your actions can change lives. Sending hugs and happy thoughts.
