I think Davinchi was using his words incorrectly. It is more about cultural differences. I don’t think an 8 year old should be or have to be on their own and the way in which children are raised may be different. In American children that isn’t an expectation and we get to success in different ways. I don’t think lazy or incompetent are the right words. I think he misuses the language.

My mom went to school during the day and worked at night. Dad worked two jobs. The village watched us. It infuriates me when folks from other countries imply the Black Americans are lazy. I worked two jobs in corporate America until age 50. Give me a break.
