As a Pilates instructor, I know a client is advanced when... 🤍 It's not about how heavy their springs are, how many advanced exercises they can perform or how long they've been practising Pilates. For me, being advanced is about so much more than that. 🤎 They understand their body – They recognise when something doesn't feel right and know how to make adjustments without constantly needing corrections. 🤎 They prioritise control over speed – They understand that Pilates isn't about rushing through repetitions, but controlling every phase of the movement. 🤎 They understand their breathing – They can coordinate their breath with their movements, even when exercises become challenging. 🤎 They maintain stability – They can challenge their balance, coordination and strength while maintaining good control of their pelvis, spine and shoulders. 🤎 They know when to modify – They understand that choosing an easier variation doesn't mean they're going backwards. Sometimes it's the smartest way to get the most out of an exercise. 🤎 They don't rely on momentum – They understand how to use their muscles to control the movement rather than letting the springs do the work for them. 🤎 They focus on quality over quantity – They would rather perform 5 controlled repetitions than 15 with poor technique. 🤎 They understand that progress isn't always about making an exercise harder – Sometimes the biggest progression is performing a familiar movement with better precision, strength and awareness. One thing I've learnt from teaching Pilates is that the most advanced clients aren't always the ones doing the most complicated exercises. They're the ones who truly understand what they're doing, why they're doing it and how their body should be moving. Because being advanced in Pilates isn't just about what you can do, it's about how well you can do it. And that, to me, is what real progression looks like🤍 Wearing @OYSHO #reformerpilates #reformerpilatesworkout #pilatesinstructor #pilatesworkout #pilatesinspiration
