True, Some preachers today sometimes quote Qur’anic verses revealed in situations of war and apply them to ordinary da‘wah or to dealings with fellow Muslims. This can create serious misunderstanding.
The Qur’an contains verses concerning armed conflict, treaties and hostile enemies, but these must be understood in their proper context. For example, Surah At-Tawbah 9:5 cannot be separated from the surrounding verses about treaties and protection.
Da‘wah is based on wisdom, good instruction and peaceful guidance (16:125), while matters of armed jihād belong to a different context with specific conditions and rules.
Therefore, preachers should clearly distinguish between da‘wah, spiritual striving and armed jihād, and should never use conflict-related verses to encourage hatred, violence or unjust treatment of fellow Muslims.
