A water softener is NOT enough for hard water on your curls 💧 I see this in the salon all the time: a client has a water softener at home, but their hair still feels coated, dull, frizzy, and impossible to moisturize. And when we test their water? It’s still hard. Here’s why 👇 1️⃣ Your softener might not actually be softening — check if it’s on bypass, out of salt, or not regenerating properly 2️⃣ “Salt-free” systems aren’t real softeners — they condition the water but leave the calcium and magnesium in it 3️⃣ Softeners don’t remove everything — iron, copper, and chlorine can still get through and build up on your hair And no, the salt isn’t the problem — a working softener swaps minerals for sodium, and sodium doesn’t build up on your hair like mineral scale does.
