Pharmacist here: sometimes people have complex illnesses and you need to discuss side effects, interactions and also explain how to take the medication correctly. That just takes time. Having said that, yes, sometimes people are also extremely poorly prepared

or maybe 5 minutes of direct engagement feels like 3 minutes while 5 minutes of awkwardly standing stationary while your brain splits into passive observation and active mental narration/speculation mode feels like.... idk 7 minutes? Combine that with the fact that every second in line will compound anxiety at what ever rate you allow it.

Thank you. Sometimes “I’m just better than you” is true. The only time you’ll catch me sitting there unprepared in line is when you throw a wrench in the plan. I’m walking up knowing what I want, ready to go. One of the frustrating things is the workers are also unprepared very often. Example: “hi, I’d like 2 happy meals both with ranch for dipping and lemonade for the side.” “Uhh, you want 2 of them?” “Yes. With ranch and lemonade for both.” “Ok…uhh… what sauce did you want?” “Ranch on both.” “Ok…uhh what did you want for the drink?”

This is me when my husband needs to see the menu in the drive through. Like, what? I’ve figured out what I wanted before I left the house, and exactly how I’m going to say it has been practiced in my head at least 3 times before I get to that speaker. 😂
