Post 80 | 2 Bad #michaeljackson #kingofpop #2Bad #michaeljacksonedit #thrillerween Have you ever had anyone say mean things about how you looked? Perhaps some of you have heard the words, “You’re ugly.” “You don’t look too good today.” “You’ve gained some weight.” “You’d be prettier if…” When and what was the last worst thing someone told you? “You’re strange. And I do not like you.” were words you’d hear from the news every day you woke up as Michael Jackson. Around the winter of 1994 to 1995, Michael wrote 2 Bad, in response to the intense media scrutiny he faced at the time following the public allegations made against him. Through this track, he sent a message to his prosecutors, to the media, to everyone who ever attempted running him out of town that if they tried bringing him down, they would break and fail trying. As the chorus goes, “Look who’s standing if you please. Though you tried to bring me to my knees. Too bad, too bad about it. Why don’t you scream and shout it?” Michael says that if you brought me down, I’ll still be standing. So, too bad! :) This song was the key centerpiece of the 39-minute short film Ghosts (1996), written by the King of Pop, the King of Horror, Stephen King himself, and directed by the legend Stan Winston, whose known for work in several blockbuster hits such as Jurassic Park (1993), Terminator (1991), Aliens (1986), Predator (1987), and the one and only beloved, Titanic (1997). Despite this legendary collaboration, the film unfortunately felt short due to the poor timing of its release and lack of mainstream distribution. Had it been released today, it could have definitely placed as one of the highest-grossing short films of all time. Little known fact about this film, it held the Guinness World Record for longest music video for over two decades. Disclaimer: Mild graphic content and photosensitive material. I’ve simply done my research because I absolutely love this song and the film. I wish I spent more time making this, but if it flops, then.. 2 bad :P - @alexmjheart
