My lawyer told my abuser that if he came after me the evidence would be made public. He told his friends and family that my lawyer physically threatened him. He knew he'd be ruined and still tried to maintain the narrative that I was making it all up to hurt him.

I CAN relate to being a survivor as one myself... I agree with the overall message.

Exactly! Thank you … we don’t have room for these men staying quiet and allowing this hate for women to continue.

My dad started being more understanding and able to process things. He was not like that idk what happened I only have noticed a few years ago he started saying things that made me double take like what? Not the most misogynistic man I’ve ever met being an understanding person when it comes to women. I asked him and he said he was a late bloomer 🤩 he said women are better then men

Accountability is hard for a lot of people to understand, it doesn’t mean more violence. 🙏

I keep thinking about how when we were teenagers and in our 20s my brother would say to his friends "stay away from my sister "and he would always say something about how guys could be. He knew. They all know. The question is, when stuff happens. Do they stand up for the women or do they submit to the group think of men. The proof is in the doing not the saying.

I don't know that I think standing by while other men are hurting people is going to cure Toxic Masculinity. I get that you didn't say that. But there is room for that perspective in your point. I see your point. But, it seems to me I can learn to communicate with the people in my life, take accountability, and show up AND I can teach toxic men, lessons on consideration, in a language they understand. I'm open to a different perspective if I'm wrong.

We have been taught that we asked for it if we wear suggestive clothes, or drink, or do drugs. It happened to me several times and I was drinking. There was never consent. I realize now that I should have done something about it. by being afraid to stand up for myself, it probably happened to other women. We have to stand together. Just because we don't understand a situation when it happens to someone else, we need to acknowledge that trauma happened and that we all deserve to feel safe. I worked at a rape crisis center for several years and saw so many victims dealing with guilt and shame and I was humbled by their courage. It is so easy to let guilt and shame dictate our response to this kind of violence. Jane Doe is so brave!
