@jonrussellmd: My fyp is full of thyroid and parathyroid content… and half of it is completely false. As a specialized doc with lots of experience, I want my page to be a place you can come for real, trustworthy information. I had my left side plus two lymph nodes taken out 10 days ago! They discovered that its metastatic and also had an incidental finding of lymphocytic thyroiditis. They couldn't tell me what any of it means, and I have to wait to talk to endocrinologist in 6 weeks lol.

Hi if a person has a thyroid nodule why would they only do an FNA of the nodule and not the thyroid as well? Nodule was benign BUT thyroid had multi focal papillary microcarcinomss ….

I have a heterogenous gland that seems to be getting smaller based on 3 ultrasounds over a couple years but no one seems concerned. My TSH keep climbing this year despite increases in levothyroxine. Other labs are normal, whatever that is. The fatigue and brain fog are almost unbearable. I’m 40 and feel like I’m going crazy. Any suggestions?

Why is the only way to see if something is cancerous is to remove it I see so many people that say they have similar stories to mine showing 70% malignancy and then they get it removed and it’s benign. Is there a way to go around that if you have no symptoms and it was an incidental finding

Last year I had hyperthyroidism and had a 6 cm goiter attached to my left thyroid removed and during the surgery I found out I had an irregular heart beat. Soon after I found out I now have hypothyroidism and I was put on Levothyroxine. I’m looking for a way to get rid of the thyroid issues without medication. I have hair loss. Cold hands and feet, dizziness, and now my wrists hurt which I think is the bones. I’m thinking if I still have my right thyroid how do I get it to work for my left side as well. I’d like to get my hormones back to normal. I take medication for my heart as well. While it’s connected to my thyroid it’s another story.

Hi! I have Graves’ disease as of 6 months ago, I just started to have a mild eye problem, looks like it’s buldging out a bit but my Ophthalmologist said it’s a slight eye lid retraction. My blood work levels are all back to normal as of this month! Wondering if my eye will go back to normal on its own? Or anything I can do?

Is it normal for your thyroid to “hurt” (3 nodules under 10mm) after being on methimazole for over a year?

my doctor required me to have biopsy T4 1.92, here in the Philippines this procedure is so expensive, I don't feel like doing it.

"Good morning, Doctor. I had a partial thyroidectomy for a colloid goiter in November 2024, where only the large nodule was removed. My previous ultrasound showed that small nodules remained. Right now, I feel like they have grown. What should I do to prevent them from enlarging further or to lessen their size?"

hi doc, as per my test result my endoc told me a while ago that I'm not hyper nor hypo but I have graves eye disease and t4 nodule 1.92 on my left neck, she advised me to have biopsy, I told her that if it's ok just to monitor since biopsy here in the Philippines is so pricey. I'm taking selinium and steroids for a month now, nodules on that side sometimes I felt a tight feeling but it's tolerable I'm just confused maybe because of the meds I'm taking. hope you elighten me on this Dr, is it really possible that I have only graves but not hyper or hypo?

Hi, I just had a US last week and there was a 1.4cm nodule with a TR5 score… my US says “repeat US in 1 year”. My TPO antibodies and thyroglobulin were high. My T3/T4 and TSH were all normal. From my research I feel like the next step should be a biopsy… what are your thoughts? My doc has yet to call me because I got the results in my chart on Friday. Hopefully they call tomorrow.

I have a question. I’ve tried to ask this before if you had a nodule that was 50% suspicious of cancer you have a family history. Your sister had thyroid cancer. The nodule is only 2.1. Would you keep following that for a few years or would you recommend to have it removed and say the patient was 58 years old?

Hello! My afirma results were module of 2.5cm on left side, BethesdaIV nodule A is Afirma GS Suspicious and BRAF p:V600E positive which suggests a risk of cancer of >95% PTC. I have two nodules on my right. Do you recommend a total thyroidectomy or partial?
