@gatorchris1:   Broken jaw gator update! She is doing great with a healthy appetite! This is Jawsophine, an alligator that came to us missing a third of her top jaw and broken bottom jaw! She was in rough shape when she first came in and all the armchair experts on the internet said she should be put down, thankfully we didn’t listen to those losers and saved this gator’s life! We did X-rays and had Dr Colbert the veterinarian and Kim the rehabber work on her and remove a lot of dead tissue and bone, antibiotics, and now she’s doing great!   ~~~Our rescue gators are wild caught nuisance gators that would’ve otherwise been destroyed. The state of Florida destroys 8,000 “nuisance” gators annually, but we don’t have a nuisance gators problem but rather a nuisance HUMAN problem. 1k people a day move to FL, unsustainably developing the land, and a lot of ignorant people making a nuisance out of themselves. NEVER feed a wild gator, never have kids or pets near the water, and never swim in gator habitat! And of course, never attempt anything you see in my videos!   Remember guys, we support our sanctuary through social media, so if you’d like to help the animals (for free), please like, leave a positive comment, and share!! We greatly appreciate it and so do the animals!   If you would like to donate to the care of the sanctuary animals, we greatly appreciate any support!! You can make a tax deductible donations directly through our website bellowingacres.org @bellowingacres   #Animal #Gator #Alligator #scicomm     CG

I thought you called her Jawsophine. 😂

Steve :

Was she attacked by other crocks or alligator

Coffee Gnome :

the Crocodilians species as a whole are friggin amazingly resilient

Vincent Ferro :

This is definitely a stupid question, but how much of that do they feel? I saw an alligator accidentally take another alligator's leg once and the gator it happened too didn't seem to even notice?

Mary Gunderson :

Poor bay. What happened?

PlumpyHippo :

how much of their body weight do they need to eat each day?

Is it weird that I wanna hug her and tell her it’s gonna be ok? lol I know that’s not possible (kidding people) ❤️❤️Thank you for the work you do! 8,000 a year. Breaks my heart 💔

imagine they could make a prosthetic jaw and mount it to the rest of her jaw bone. the exposed bit getting dirty is a bit unsettling
