Cal Camp :
Anakin Skywalker was never just a character who became Darth Vader. He was a representation of what happens when a person loves so deeply that the fear of losing that love becomes stronger than anything else. He was a child who only wanted freedom, a son who wanted to protect his mother, a brother who would have done anything for Obi-Wan, and a man who loved Padmé with everything he had. Anakin didn’t become evil because he stopped loving—he became Vader because he loved so much that he became terrified of losing what he loved. And Palpatine took that love, twisted it into fear, and used it to turn the Chosen One into the darkest figure in the galaxy. The tragedy is that Anakin spent his entire life trying to save the people he loved, only to become the reason he lost them. But the beautiful part of his story is that the darkness never truly killed Anakin. Behind the mask, beneath the anger, the pain, and the hatred, there was still a man who loved. Luke was the final proof of that. When everyone else saw Darth Vader, Luke saw his father. And when Anakin finally chose his son over the Emperor, he proved that the light inside him had never truly died. He didn’t defeat the darkness by becoming stronger than it. He defeated it by remembering who he was and choosing love one last time. That’s what Anakin means to so many people. He represents love, loss, fear, regret, redemption, and the part of us that can become lost but never completely disappear. He was the Chosen One, not because he was incapable of falling, but because he was destined to bring balance—and in the end, he did. Darth Vader was what the darkness turned him into. Anakin Skywalker was who he always was underneath it all. And when everything else was stripped away, love was the one thing the darkness could never take from him.
