@therealtoroflagosltd_: Tarkwa Bay is one of those places in Lagos that makes you stop and think about what the city could become. A beach shaped, in part, by human intervention. A place people travel to by boat. A place where people surf, swim, relax and experience the Atlantic. And a place that has existed as a community long before many of the developments we now associate with this part of Lagos. But here’s what I keep thinking about: When we talk about developing Lagos, do we really need to build on everything? Maybe some places need hotels, restaurants, beach clubs and other tourism infrastructure. But maybe some places simply need better access, sanitation, safety, waste management and preservation so people can experience them without destroying what makes them special in the first place. Because the value of a place isn’t always in how much you can build on it. Sometimes, the value is in what you choose not to build. So I’m curious: Should places like Tarkwa Bay be developed, preserved, or a bit of both? And what would that look like? If you had the opportunity to develop Tarkwa Bay, what would you actually do with it?
