@cnbc: CNBC's Jessica Dickler spoke with Colby College President David Greene about the high cost of #college tuition — and what schools should do about it. ⠀ Read more at the #linkinbio or the link on screen. #CNBC
Ok story time. When we toured Colby, the administrator in the presentation said “hardly anyone pays full price”. Well, we do and knew we would so that was ridiculous to say that to a group of parents. My son and I continued on to the tour but my husband left. That statement was false and no full pay family wants to sit there and be told they’ll get a discount. Our son enrolled at Bowdoin and yes we paid full price but Bowdoin admins were sensitive to the 50 percent of families not getting a discount (same as Colby.)

Need a multi tiered solution. Different degrees should have different costs. Philosophy vs Engineering. Universities need to be held accountable for results i.e. job placement/salaries.

I’m all for that-except it needs to be a state resident by state resident basis. 300 K in Massachusetts is not = to 300 k in Oklahoma

Paying for classes that a kid doesn’t need for his specific career is where they need to start. The first 2 years of a 4 year degree is a complete waste of money

he is intentionally leaving part of the story out. A family who has worked hard and saved is taken advantage of by these schools. The family that has done the right thing is leveraged to pay for families who have not. Income is only half the narrative family assets is the other
