My dad was mixed into soil and used for the weeping willow on my front yard, same for my grandfather, who is a peppermint tree, and I love it so much

I don't care what my kids do with my remains after cremation. I just don't want them going into debt because I died.

My grandpa passed years back but no one put his death year on the headstone - what’s the process for doing that? Is it something I would be able to pay for now?

Random fact no one tells you, when you are subjectively the closest person to the deceased you are the HOST and nearly every person will want to talk with you 😭 I was 26 when my mom died and this was very hard on me

Hey so I was only 22yo when the man I was trying to divorce unalived himself in our living room. (He was an awful person) The funeral home & the cemetery tried to squeeze every penny they could out of the situation. I wish I had someone like you to tell me these things. I was in immense distress & needed guidance, not a $12,000 (in 2003) bill for a “man” that didn’t even deserve a proper funeral.

I think we’ve become far too comfortable announcing things before they’ve actually happened. The business you’re about to start. The house you’re trying to buy. The person you’re speaking to for marriage. The opportunity that might come through. Sometimes you’ve told 20 people before you’ve even taken the first proper step. And now you’re carrying their opinions with you. Some will tell you it won’t work. Some will question everything. Some will genuinely support you. Some will quietly hope it doesn’t happen. And sometimes just talking about something repeatedly gives you the satisfaction of feeling like you’ve already done it. I’ve learnt there’s a lot of peace in keeping things between yourself, the people who genuinely need to know... And Allah. Do the work quietly. Take the meetings. Make the sacrifices. Deal with the setbacks. And allow something to become real before you feel the need to make it public. Not everything needs to be hidden forever. But everything doesn’t need to be announced while it’s still being built either. There’s wisdom in protecting something when it’s still fragile. Especially when you understand that envy and the evil eye are real. You don’t need everyone watching the process. You don’t need everyone validating the plan. And you definitely don’t need everyone having an opinion on something Allah hasn’t even completed for you yet. Sometimes the best feeling is working towards something for months without saying a word... And then one day simply saying: Alhamdulillah. It’s done. Let people celebrate the result. They didn’t always need access to the journey.
