@nytimes: In a world where naked dressing is now taken for granted on both red carpets and in real life, figuring out what qualifies as “sexy” is increasingly hard. Haider Ackermann, Tom Ford’s successor at his namesake brand, took this season’s undercurrent of eroticism and made it even more overt — with mixed results, according to our chief fashion critic Vanessa Friedman. who is this icon? I need her to take over vogue. now.

nope! it's the perfect time for a raunchy anti trad wide fashion statement. I'm up to here with florals, high necks, ruffles, billowy layers, long ample skirts.

I think the nakedness is an excuse to hide the fact that luxury fabrics have gotten expensive and that designers are trying to work with less material and still charge the same prices while maintaining their same overhead.

Ok, she ate this analysis up. She really set up a good narrative at the beginning and then unpacked it beautifully

Best comment I saw is that Haider made everyone look like they just had expensive sex, and that’s the Tom Ford brand. It was perfect - exactly because it’s hard to make skin sexy these days.

I really like this serie and getting more in depth perspectives into the fashion shows. Makes it more accessible and understandable to people - like me - who follow from afar the fashion weeks. 👏pls do more.

This is TF. It’s the richness of the fabrics, the precise cut and the silhouette that make all that sexiness feel so expensive and luxurious. Haider gets it.

detriment? i don’t think so, also the show is presented as a whole with a storyline, taking the looks out of that misses a lot of context imo
