@bridgenoland: THE LEADING VILLAINESS | Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister — GAME OF THRONES (2011–2019) 🖤 WHEN THE CROWN WAS NEVER GOING TO MAKE HER NICER. Let’s talk about Cersei Lannister. Queen. Mother. Schemer. Occasional enthusiast of solving political disagreements with spectacular amounts of fire. Cersei spends Game of Thrones surrounded by people who underestimate her. Which, historically, is not a wonderful survival strategy. She loves fiercely. Hates even better. And treats forgiveness as something other families can waste their time with. But what makes Cersei unforgettable is that Lena Headey never plays her as a simple monster. There is pride. Fear. Humiliation. Grief. Love twisted into possession. And an almost supernatural ability to turn every wound into another reason never to be vulnerable again. Headey can make Cersei terrifying without raising her voice. A stare. A half-smile. A glass of wine held with just slightly too much confidence. Sometimes that is all the warning Westeros gets. And whenever Cersei loses something, she rarely responds by becoming smaller. She becomes more dangerous. That is the tragedy and the thrill of her. Every attempt to break her teaches her another way to break someone else. By the time she finally sits on the Iron Throne, it does not feel like a coronation. It feels like the world has finally caught up with the woman she always believed herself to be. Today also happens to mark Lena Headey’s 53rd birthday, which seems like the perfect excuse to celebrate the performance that gave Cersei all that venom, heartbreak and magnificent contempt. Some villainesses want power. Cersei Lannister spent eight seasons making sure everybody understood that she deserved it more. 🖤 Happy 53rd birthday, Lena Headey. 👑 #GameOfThrones #CerseiLannister #LenaHeadey
