The ouroboros is an ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon eating or biting its own tail, forming a continuous circle with no clear beginning or end. It is most commonly associated with eternity, infinity, cycles, transformation, and the idea that everything eventually returns to where it began. Because the creature is both the one consuming and the one being consumed, the ouroboros can also represent the connection between creation and destruction, life and death, beginning and ending, and growth and decay. Rather than seeing these things as completely separate opposites, the symbol presents them as parts of the same endless process, where one naturally leads into another. The ouroboros has appeared in different forms across ancient Egyptian, Greek, Gnostic, and alchemical traditions, with its exact meaning changing depending on the context. In alchemy, it became especially associated with unity, transformation, regeneration, and the idea of something containing itself. The circular shape can also represent cyclical time, rebirth, repeating patterns, and the idea that an ending can become the beginning of something new. Because the serpent consumes itself without ever reaching a true final point, the ouroboros can also represent self-reference, self-destruction, renewal, and an endless cycle that continually creates and destroys itself. Overall, the ouroboros is a symbol of something that is simultaneously its own beginning and its own ending, constantly changing while remaining part of the same continuous cycle. #ouroboros #larp #spinningsymbols #iqmaxx - @lolkawaiigrl
