@king.k.1.n.o: 🚨 China is building a MILITARY RUNWAY on Antelope Reef in the South China Sea — and analysts say it could be the biggest expansion there in a decade. Reuters-exclusive satellite images from September 25 show grading work, piles of gravel and concrete, and compaction cranes racing to build a full-scale runway in the Paracel Islands. Analysts estimate it could be complete by mid-2027 — with a first landing possibly even earlier. China hasn't acknowledged a military base. Beijing says Antelope will serve civilian needs like weather forecasting and scientific research. Vietnam and Taiwan also claim the Paracels. The South China Sea is becoming an increasingly militarized arena of competition.
