@motorvationdrivingschool: You do not have to wait for a dangerous driver to cause a crash before calling the police. A woman filmed weaving between lanes on roads with a 70mph limit was convicted of drink-driving and dangerous driving after a concerned member of the public raised the alarm. Alison Fletcher, 50, from Gloucestershire, gave a breath reading of 147 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath more than four times the legal limit of 35. She received a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and a three-year driving ban. You do not need to diagnose what is wrong. Describe what you can see and let the police assess it. Whether someone is impaired, falling asleep or experiencing a medical emergency, dangerous driving needs urgent attention. If there is an immediate danger, call 999. You may use a handheld phone to call 999 or 112 while driving in a genuine emergency if it is unsafe or impractical to stop. This is a specific legal exception, not permission to use your phone for any report. Ask a passenger to call if possible. Otherwise, stop somewhere safe if you can. Give the road, direction of travel, vehicle description and registration if you can safely establish them. Keep your distance. Do not chase, confront or try to stop the driver, and do not use a handheld phone to film while driving. The emergency-call exception does not cover recording footage. Reporting an immediate danger could prevent another family receiving devastating news. Credit: Sussex Police #roadsafety #roadsafetyawareness #sheenaahmed #driver #staysafe
