This is why I decided to run for city council. More women need to run for positions of power. Most women will refuse to apply for a job because they think they aren’t qualified, yet men will apply with zero job experience. Have faith in yourself, believe you can make change, and we will.

You’re right, of course. My only concern is the number of women (specifically older Gen X, Boomers and the remaining Silent Gen) with internalized mysogyny. How do we convince them to act in their own best interests? While it’s not a huge number, I fear it’s “enough” to hamper the effort.

Some 30 yrs ago I was planning to go to England, my manager then I will name her Hazel. She asked me if I have a credit card and I said no I don’t so she told me to go to the bank and get a credit card for myself because I was travelling to London when I went to, I asked for a card they refused me. They told me I need a signature of my husband. The thing is I was actually making more money than my spouse and I had a more secure job when I came back and I told Hazel about it, she lost it. She called the bank. She told them if you don’t give her the card and we are closing over the account with you and we’ll go somewhere else. They can deliver the card that evening at work with my name on it. This is in Canada Toronto.
