@flywithmat: Every time we get into the aircraft, one of the things we test is the fire detection system for both engines and the APU. During the test, the warning lights and cockpit alerts are triggered on purpose to make sure the system would immediately warn us if a fire was ever detected. In the extremely rare event of an actual engine or APU fire, the affected system can be shut down and isolated, and fire-extinguishing agents can be discharged into the engine or APU. It's one of many checks designed to make sure the aircraft is ready before the flight, and one small example of why modern aviation operates at such an exceptionally high level of safety.

Can you please fly me next June to Bahamas for my son’s wedding? I’ve flown several times but I get more anxious. Haven’t flown since 2017. Wow…. 10 years next June when I go to wedding. Any tips for anxious people?
