@strongermindslab: 🚁 You got rescued by a WHAAAT?! This is the mind-blowing moment an Oregon Army National Guard CH-47 Chinook helicopter pulled off one of the most dangerous high-altitude mountain rescues in history! 🏔️👇 In July 2018, a climber became stranded near the treacherous 11,000-foot summit of Mount Hood, Oregon, USA. Standard rescue helicopters couldn’t handle the thin air, extreme altitude, and steep, icy terrain. Enter the Boeing CH-47F Chinook heavy-lift helicopter. To save the climber, the elite military pilots executed a legendary tactical aviation manoeuvre known as a pinnacle landing (or pinnacle manoeuvre). 🤯 How They Did It: • The Hover: The pilot suspended the massive 65-foot aircraft mid-air, defying gravity and fierce mountain winds. • The Touchdown: Only the two rear wheels touched down on the vertical, snow-covered incline. • The Extraction: With the rear ramp resting on the ice, Portland Mountain Rescue volunteers safely loaded the patient directly into the back of the helicopter while the front rotors spun over open air. This incredible feat of search and rescue highlights the precision, skill, and bravery of our National Guard pilots and mountain rescue teams! #USA #helicopter #aviation

remember seeing this all over the news. That pilot has some serious skills and what he pulled off was just mind blowing. Communication between the team to get that Chinook in that position was spot on 💪

That’s a master pilot…I am at a loss for words, the skill involved to carry this off a small percentile of pilots would maybe attempt this never mind pull it off❤️👍
