I was taught that a Hedge Witch was a witch who is either in the country or doesn’t have a crystallized practice. For instance, the person who lives in the cottage down the road and uses herbs to help others but wasn’t trained to do so. They figure it out as they go. If that makes sense.

Hmm. I've never thought of hedge as being a boundary. I always mentally attached it to concepts like the hedge schools in 18th century Ireland. Which .. were illegal and crossing boundaries. I'll see myself out

I need someone to know I’ve been practicing since I was a child, local witches gave me books and tarot and things. It wasn’t until this year at the big ole age of 35 did I realize I’ve been practicing hoodoo since I was 9. 🙃 I do not belong to any groups who would claim hoodoo but I’m grateful I was let in I guess??
