As an archeologist and a historian we weren't unable to figure it out because it was impossible to crack, but rather because there isn't enough funding to allow trained experts to do the work it takes to do it. Sure, it's great that AI is capable of it but that's because it has been trained on the blood sweat and tears of real people that never were given the opportunity to complete their goal because it wasn't worth it for the people in power who hold the money. Imagine where we'd be if all of the money that's funded AI training, research and data centers had been given to scholars, doctors, and researchers. I realize this will fall on deaf ears because this entire page is all about how great AI is, but there really is something profound that has been taken from us in pursuit of a digital clone.

We THINK it's deciphered these things. But we already know AI makes mistakes on things we DO understand, sooooo...

Just to see what would happen to peoples beliefs, I've wanted to know what would happen if someone had AI translate the Bible by learning those languages relavant to the time periods it was allegedly written in.

Yeah but Gemini can’t solve crosswords, either that or the free version has a block or a bug in it that doesn’t allow them to be solved

I tried to get my AI to decipher the Vonich Manuscript. I told it it might be hundreds of pages of women’s health but can’t say as the flowers match nothing in the garden……my AI could not. But I might have used the wrong AI

Ai is helpful just reading old writing’s. I’m old enough to have learned to write using cursive, but I had a hard time deciphering cursive writing from the mid-1800s, but AI had no problem at all reading it.

I tried this. ChatGPT, Claude, etc can crack most weak ciphers within minutes. As long as the messages are long enough. Most historic ciphers are weak ciphers.
