My father had polio as a kid and didn’t have use of his legs he had to go around in a wagon or cart he got into drugs and alcohol and it took over I didn’t get much time with him my last interaction with him was a pat on the head .

being estranged from him has been extremely painful for this very reason. i can sense he went through so much in his childhood, a lot that he refuses to share. now that im a mom, i just feel for him. i want to hold him and let him know how much he is loved despite the hurt and pain he has caused me. he lost his mom during a dark time, and didnt have a father figure as his dad died when he was a 5. i wish he could just be vulnerable with me, so we can reconnect. i would love to learn from him and for him to share his wisdom as i struggle a lot with my neurodivergence now. i see so much in him, i wish he knew how gifted he was. my worst fear is us not to reconnect before he dies. he’s 64

This is 100% for me and my dad. He had bipolar & definitely suspected he was autistic (I was diagnosed with autism at 21 & adhd at 8 & hEDS at 20) I ended up being his safe person throughout his life & he unintentionally put me through a lot. He was in so much pain :( I was one of the only ones who understood him
