when my mom and i went on a western europe trip she thought she could rely on my english to communicate but i was too nervous to speak english in public. we ended up relying on my mom speaking mandarin (and other chinese dialects) the whole trip. 😭😭😭 7 countries and we never had trouble finding a chinese person to help us. a lot of shops even had chinese employees.

Chinese tourists can be so fun sometimes. We had one stay in our hostel and they wanted to watch me conduct an online class and spent the rest of the afternoon talking about books via Google Translate 🤓
