i worked at a pharmacy and we had maybe 5 closing tasks to do and on busy days id do them an hour before close. on slow days id do them 3 hours before. every night the entire team left at exactly 9pm💪

I’ll do you one better. I once had to explain to a guy that overtime is anything over 40 hours a week. Not over the 8 hour shift daily. He was pissed that working extra hours for 3 days didn’t get him overtime. I was like dude you have worked a grand total of 23 hours

training new hires at panera meant we closed at 10 and I made it home close to 1am. training teenagers who just wanna sit in the bathroom and vape isnt for the weak.

If you work in food, I’d understand. There are certain things in food service that can’t wait to be done. But if it’s a retail store? Absolutely not. I get paid the same wage as the opening team. I am not working harder and longer just because I was scheduled a closing. We leave when we are done or when our shift ends, whichever comes FIRST.

The scheduled time for closing is a goal, it always feels good when you finish early and the morning crew only gets on your ass for a tiny missed spot on the counter (morning crew always has something to say)

Our schedule is time in to cut time. So if I'm 10-4, I'm cut at 4, but still there till almost 5 finishing cut work.

if they want the hours fine but im not staying til close. I work at a bar and we close at either 12 or 2 am. I never stayed that late
