@naomisummachh: My son died January 23, 2023. My dad died six months later. My mom died January 22, 2026. There are days when it would be so easy to let the weight of all of that pull me under. But I have consciously made the decision to learn how to swim with it. Not move on from it. Not get over it. But learn how to carry it and still choose to live. You may see me running a business, being a mom, travelling, laughing and building a beautiful life. But you only see the parts I choose to show you. You don’t see every wave. From a young age, I learned how to swim in the ocean. When a big wave is coming toward you, you dive underneath it. You don’t try to fight it. You go under, let it pass over you, and come back up on the other side. Grief feels a lot like that. The waves still come. Some knock the wind out of me. Sometimes they come one after another before I can even catch my breath. But I’ve learned how to dive under them. And I’ve learned that I will come back up. I can miss them every second and still laugh. I can be heartbroken and still experience joy. I can carry this grief for the rest of my life and still build a beautiful life alongside it. Every single day, I make the decision to keep swimming. The waves aren’t going to stop coming. But I choose to live. 🌊
