@cinephiles.inn: The godfather (1972) At the beginning of The Godfather, Vito Corleone refuses to take a family photograph until Michael joins them. At that moment, Michael is different from the rest of the Corleone family. He has chosen his own path and wants to keep his distance from his father’s world. But life brings them closer. Years later, we see Vito and Michael sitting together — no longer distant, but sharing a quiet moment as father and son. Vito smiles at the man his youngest son has become, even though Michael’s life has taken a path neither of them once expected. Two simple scenes, but together they show how much their relationship changed. A father. A son. A legacy. 🎥 The godfather (1972) 🎬 Francis Ford Coppola ⭐ Marlon Brando & Al Pacino #father #AlPacino #fyp #family #whattowatchchallenge
He saw a lot of himself in Michael and he was also his youngest son.

Taking down Sollozo took his innocence, loosing Sonny took his childhood, loosing Apollonia took his love and hope, loosing Vito took what was left of his spark..🥲

if anyone doesnt understand, Michael lived a very respectable and honourable military life before his father was attacked and he had to step into his shoes. his departure was seen at the dinner table scene where they all leave the table after Michael announces he is joining the marines. his younger brother is too weak to lead, his older brother too hot headed. his father sees in him the want to be good and honourable, to not join the criminal world unless necessary, much like his own life, he tried to help and did what he needed to for the family. it was never to gain wealth or notoriety, it was to protect his friends and family.

It’s crazy how Vito stressed the importance of family yet Michael ends up dying alone without family. Vito would’ve been crushed if he knew the future of Micheal’s fate. Always gets me melancholy.
