I am jane doe. one year ago today october 4 2025 i was 16 years old and i was sexually assaulted by someone who was 20 that night i thought i was just spending time with people i considered some of my closest friends my family was going through one of the hardest periods of our lives and i was not handling it well i had started drinking more than i should have as a way of coping that night i drank too much blacked out got sick and eventually passed out i was put in my friends bedroom so i could sleep his mom knew i was there and had checked on me the people i was with left the house for a few hours and by the time they came back i had already been asleep for a long time everyone knew where i was sleeping and it had been made clear that nobody was supposed to go into that room he went in anyway i did not know he was there because i was asleep eventually i started feeling someone touching me and i was still so out of it that at first i genuinely thought i was dreaming then i started waking up enough to understand what was happening and realized he was touching me sexually i turned around and realized who it was and told him to stop i asked him what he was doing and told him to stop multiple times i was still extremely intoxicated and exhausted and eventually turned back around because i thought telling someone to stop would be enough it should have been the next thing i remember is waking up again because my pants were being pulled down and feeling him pressing himself against me that woke me up completely i got out of the bed pulled my clothes back up and left the room i went into another bedroom woke up one of my friends and told him what happened he let me stay in that room we locked the door and he slept on the floor so i could feel safe by the next morning people knew what happened people told me it was disgusting people told me he was wrong and people acted angry but eventually everyone just kept living their lives and somehow i felt like i was supposed to do the same for a while i did i stayed around some of the same people and sometimes that meant being around him too that does not mean i was okay with what happened i knew what he did was wrong i hated him for it and i confronted him about it more than once later i learned about other allegations and concerns surrounding his behavior and i was also told about concerns involving him pursuing girls younger than him those are things i learned afterward from other people and not things i personally witnessed i think there is an expectation for how a survivor is supposed to act that you immediately understand what happened immediately report it immediately cut off everyone involved and never see that person again that was not my reality i was 16 my family was falling apart i was drinking too much and i was trying to process something i did not know how to process for a long time i blamed myself for drinking for not waking up sooner for staying around those people afterward and for not immediately understanding the full weight of what happened but i should never have needed to wake up to protect myself from someone who knew i was unconscious i was asleep i was intoxicated i could not consent and when i became conscious enough to understand what was happening i told him to stop more than once today marks one year of my assault i longer speak to him or to that friend group and i finally understand that what happened to me was not something small that i was supposed to forget about i am sharing my story because another survivor is having people try to take away the anonymity that belongs to her so if people are going to search for jane doe they can find me too hi jane doe my name is jane doe too i believe you i stand with you i am jane doe #iamjanedoe #fyp #believesurvivors #survivorsupport #sexualassaultawareness
