I believe a person can do terrible things, take accountability, get sober, rebuild their life, and become someone completely different. But redemption is not the same thing as reward. When someone has violently harmed other people, I don’t believe their crimes should become a platform for fame, money, or influence especially when they minimize what happened, manipulate the truth, or profit from a version of the story that erases the people they hurt. We talk so much about giving people second chances, and I’m all for that. But a second chance should mean the opportunity to live differently not the opportunity to become famous because of the harm you caused. There is a difference between telling your story to help others and building a brand that profits from the suffering of your victims. Accountability means the truth matters, the victims matter, and sometimes humility means realizing that not every painful chapter of your life needs to become a platform.
