The Church is supposed to be a community where love, grace, truth, forgiveness, and restoration are evident. And to be fair, there are many believers and pastors who genuinely love people, serve sacrificially, support one another, and stand with those who are hurting. But we also have to be honest about our shortcomings. Sometimes, as believers, we can become vindictive. We gossip about one another. We rejoice when someone falls. We become fascinated when another person's sin is exposed. Instead of praying for restoration, we sometimes use someone's failure as an opportunity to prove that we were right about them. And this can happen among pastors and Christian leaders too.
